Parietální
Parietální refers to structures or concepts related to the parietal bones of the skull. The parietal bones are two irregularly shaped bones that form the sides and roof of the cranium. They articulate with each other at the sagittal suture and with other cranial bones like the frontal, temporal, and occipital bones. In neuroanatomy, the parietal lobe is a major division of the cerebral cortex, situated between the frontal lobe and the occipital lobe. This lobe is primarily responsible for processing sensory information such as touch, temperature, pain, and pressure. It also plays a role in spatial orientation, navigation, and understanding language. In zoology, particularly in comparative anatomy, the term parietal can also refer to parietal eyes or parietal organs found in some vertebrates, which are light-sensitive structures often located on the top of the head and thought to be involved in regulating circadian rhythms or detecting light levels.
