Parenchymatiska refers to tissues composed of parenchyma cells. Parenchyma cells are a type of plant cell that is undifferentiated or incompletely differentiated, meaning they have not yet developed into specialized cells. These cells are typically thin-walled, living at maturity, and possess a large central vacuole. They are fundamental building blocks found in various plant organs, including roots, stems, leaves, and fruits.

The functions of parenchyma tissues are diverse and crucial for plant life. In leaves, parenchyma cells form the mesophyll, which is the primary site of photosynthesis. In roots and stems, parenchyma can function in storage of food reserves, such as starch, or water. Some parenchyma cells are involved in secretion, producing substances like nectar or oils. In certain instances, parenchyma can dedifferentiate and then redifferentiate to form other cell types, playing a role in wound healing and regeneration. The arrangement and specific characteristics of parenchyma cells can vary depending on their location and function within the plant.
