Parapotentiels

Parapotentiels, also known as parallel potentials or parallel potentials in electrochemistry, refer to the phenomenon where two or more electrochemical reactions occur simultaneously at different sites on an electrode surface. In a parapotentiel system, the electrode potential is not a single value but a range of potentials. The term "parapotentiel" was introduced by Marcel Pourbaix to describe this situation, where the electrode potential is not uniquely defined due to the simultaneous occurrence of multiple reactions.
