Pandurate
Pandurate describes a leaf shape that is broadest above the middle and tapers towards both the base and the apex. This morphology is somewhat fiddle-shaped, resembling a violin or lute. The widest part is typically located between one-third and two-thirds of the way up the leaf from its base. From this broadest point, the leaf narrows gradually towards the stem and then more abruptly towards the tip. This shape is distinct from oblanceolate, where the widest part is closer to the apex, or ovate, which is egg-shaped and widest below the middle. Plants exhibiting pandurate leaves can be found across various families, and this specific shape is often noted in botanical descriptions as a characteristic feature.
