Palmitoyltransferázok

Palmitoyltransferázok, also known as palmitoyltransferases, are a group of enzymes that catalyze the transfer of a palmitoyl group, a 16-carbon saturated fatty acid, to a substrate molecule. This process is known as palmitoylation. Palmitoylation is a reversible post-translational modification that plays a crucial role in regulating the localization, function, and interaction of proteins. These enzymes are involved in various cellular processes, including signal transduction, protein trafficking, and membrane association.

There are several known families of palmitoyltransferases, each with distinct substrate specificities and cellular roles.
