Pallomaista

Pallomaista, also known as the Pallomaista people, are an indigenous group from the Philippines. They are primarily located in the provinces of Palawan and Mindoro, with a smaller population in the Visayas region. The Pallomaista are part of the larger Palawano ethnic group, which includes the Palaweno, Tagbanwa, and other related tribes. Their traditional language, also called Pallomaista, is part of the Austronesian language family and is spoken by approximately 10,000 people.

The Pallomaista people have a rich cultural heritage, with a strong emphasis on oral traditions, storytelling, and community gatherings. Their society is organized into patrilineal clans, with each clan having its own chief and council. The Pallomaista are known for their skilled craftsmanship, particularly in the creation of intricate woodcarvings and traditional clothing. The Pallomaista have faced significant challenges in recent decades, including deforestation, land conversion, and the impacts of climate change. These issues have led to a decline in their traditional way of life and a loss of cultural practices.
