Oxigéntermelés

Oxigéntermelés refers to the process by which oxygen is produced. In a biological context, this primarily refers to photosynthesis, the process carried out by plants, algae, and cyanobacteria. During photosynthesis, these organisms use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to create glucose, their energy source, and release oxygen as a byproduct. This oxygen is crucial for the respiration of most living organisms on Earth.

In a more industrial or chemical sense, oxigéntermelés can involve the separation of oxygen from air. This is typically achieved through cryogenic distillation, where air is cooled to extremely low temperatures until it liquefies. The different components of air, including oxygen, nitrogen, and argon, have different boiling points, allowing them to be separated as the liquid air is warmed. Another method is pressure swing adsorption (PSA), which uses materials that selectively adsorb nitrogen under pressure, leaving oxygen behind. Electrolysis of water is another method where an electric current is passed through water, splitting it into hydrogen and oxygen gas. This method is often used for smaller-scale or specialized oxygen production. The resulting oxygen can be used in a wide variety of applications, including medical treatments, industrial processes, and diving.
