Ostokseni is a fictional multimedia project that explores consumer culture and everyday shopping practices. The name, referencing the Finnish phrase ostokseni (my purchases), is used as a symbolic title for a broader inquiry into material life in the digital age. The project treats Ostokseni as both a narrative device and a curatorial umbrella for various works.

Origins and scope: It was initiated by a collaborative collective of artists, curators, and researchers in the Nordic region in the late 2010s. The project comprises an online archive, documentary shorts, interactive installations, and scholarly essays.

Content and themes: The online archive gathers diaries, purchase histories, price catalogs, and interviews with shoppers and store workers. Documentary shorts examine routines of budgeting, impulse buying, and social interaction in markets. Installations simulate grocery aisles and consumer environments to reveal attention, choice, and constraint. Essays address market structures, supply chains, data collection and profiling, sustainability, labor, memory, and identity.
