Oskillaatioiden

Oskillaatioiden is a Finnish term that translates to "oscillations" in English. In physics, an oscillation refers to a repetitive variation, typically in time, of some measure about a central value of equilibrium or between two or more states. This repetition occurs regularly. The simplest form of oscillation is simple harmonic motion, which occurs when a system is displaced from its equilibrium position and a restoring force proportional to the displacement acts to return it to equilibrium. Examples include a pendulum swinging or a mass on a spring.

More complex oscillatory systems can involve damping, which causes the amplitude of the oscillation to decrease over time, or driving forces that can sustain or even increase the amplitude. The frequency of an oscillation is the number of complete cycles that occur in a unit of time, while the period is the time taken for one complete cycle. Amplitude refers to the maximum displacement or extent of oscillation. Oscillations are fundamental to many areas of physics, including wave phenomena, mechanics, and electromagnetism, and are observed in countless natural and engineered systems.
