Osakaalude

Osakaalude is an Estonian term used in technical contexts to refer to the set of weights assigned to individual parts of a model, data set, or process. The word is a compound of osa ('part') and kaal ('weight'), with the plural genitive ending -de. In this sense, osakaalude describe how much influence each part has on a final result.

Applications: In statistics and data analysis osakaalude are used to compute weighted means and to adjust for sampling bias by giving different parts of a dataset different importance. In operations research and engineering, partial weights help balance loads or prioritize partial components in optimization problems. In linguistics, economics, and other fields, they appear whenever contributions of subunits are not equal.
