Optischemagnetische, also known as optomagnetic or magneto-optic effects, refer to the interaction between light (optical phenomena) and magnetic fields. These effects occur when a material's optical properties are altered by the presence of a magnetic field, or vice versa. The study of optischemagnetische phenomena is a significant area of research in physics, particularly in the fields of condensed matter physics and materials science.

One of the most well-known optomagnetic effects is the Faraday effect, discovered by Michael Faraday in 1845. This effect describes the rotation of the plane of polarization of light as it travels through a material subjected to a magnetic field. The degree of rotation is proportional to the strength of the magnetic field and the distance the light travels through the material. The Faraday effect is widely used in various applications, including optical isolators, current sensors, and magnetic field measurements.

Another important optomagnetic phenomenon is the magneto-optic Kerr effect (MOKE), which involves the reflection of polarized light from a magnetized surface. MOKE is used extensively in the study of magnetic materials and for the development of magnetic storage devices. It allows for the non-destructive investigation of magnetic properties and the visualization of magnetic domain structures.

Optischemagnetische effects are also observed in phenomena such as magnetic circular dichroism, where the absorption of left- and right-circularly polarized light differs in a magnetized material. These effects provide valuable insights into the electronic and magnetic properties of materials and have practical applications in areas like data storage, sensors, and optical communication.
