Okunuta

Okunuta is a town and municipality on the southern coast of the fictional archipelago nation of Ariven. It sits along a sheltered bay and serves as the administrative center of the Okunuta District.

The settlement grew around a harbor established in the 16th century by merchant ships. It expanded in the 19th century with steam trade and shipbuilding, and underwent modernization after independence in the mid-20th century.

Okunuta has a mild maritime climate and a hilly hinterland. The economy centers on fishing, fish processing, and small-scale manufacturing, complemented by growing tourism focused on the harbor promenade and nearby beaches.

As of the latest census, Okunuta has about 14,000 residents. The municipality operates under a council-manager system, with a mayor and elected council responsible for local services, planning, and cultural affairs.

Landmarks include the Okunuta Lighthouse, the Old Market, and a seaside promenade hosting annual seafood and music festivals. The town hosts cultural institutions such as a regional library and a local history museum.
