Oksüdatsioonivahend

Oksüdatsioonivahend is a term used in chemistry to refer to a substance that causes oxidation. Oxidation is a chemical process that involves the loss of electrons from a molecule, atom, or ion. In simpler terms, it is the addition of oxygen or removal of hydrogen. An oksüdatsioonivahend, also known as an oxidizing agent or oxidant, readily accepts electrons from another substance during a redox (reduction-oxidation) reaction.

When an oksüdatsioonivahend reacts with another substance, it causes that substance to be oxidized, while the oksüdatsioonivahend itself is reduced. Reduction is the opposite of oxidation and involves the gain of electrons.
