Ohjauskeskukseen

Ohjauskeskukseen is the illative form of the Finnish noun ohjauskeskus, meaning “to the control center.” An ohjauskeskus refers to a facility where operations are monitored, coordinated and directed, such as a crisis management center, a traffic management center, or a power-grid control room. The illative form is used when expressing movement toward the location, for example: “Mennään ohjauskeskukseen.”

In practice, control centers bring together data from surveillance systems, communications networks, and situational displays. Staff interpret information, issue commands, coordinate resources, and communicate with field units or agencies. They play a central role in emergency response, traffic control, security operations, and the management of critical infrastructure such as electricity networks.

Etymology and grammar: The term consists of ohjaus (control) and keskus (center). Finnish uses the illative case to express motion into a location; for many nouns the illative ending is -ukseen, and ohjauskeskus becomes ohjauskeskukseen. The form is used in everyday Finnish when describing moving toward or entering a control center, contrasted with the nominative ohjauskeskus for the place itself.
