OSJD

The Organization for Cooperation between Railways, or OSJD, is an international organization based in Warsaw, Poland. It was founded in 1956 by socialist countries of the Eastern Bloc to standardize railway operations and facilitate international rail freight and passenger transport. Its primary goal is to create a unified, efficient, and harmonized railway system across its member states.

OSJD works on developing and implementing common technical standards and regulations for rolling stock, track infrastructure, and signaling systems. This standardization aims to simplify cross-border traffic, reduce technical barriers, and improve interoperability between national railway networks. The organization also plays a crucial role in coordinating international timetables and freight movements.

Membership in OSJD includes countries from Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the Caucasus. OSJD's efforts contribute to the development of international rail corridors, particularly those that are part of the Trans-European Network and the Eurasian Land Bridge.
