OPVde

OPVde is a German-led collaborative initiative focused on organic photovoltaic devices (OPVs). It brings together universities, research institutes, and industry partners to advance OPV technology through coordinated research, shared resources, and the development of standard testing and reporting practices. The aim is to improve device performance, operational stability, and manufacturability while fostering open exchange of data and methods among participants.

OPVde operates under a formal charter that defines governance, membership, and working groups. Its activities include joint research projects, creation of common measurement protocols, development of reference device benchmarks, and the maintenance of an open data portal for device performance and materials data. The collaboration also hosts regular symposia and workshops to disseminate results and facilitate industry-academic partnerships.

Membership typically spans universities, national labs, and companies involved in materials synthesis, device engineering, and scale-up. Governance is usually organized around a steering committee and dedicated working groups focused on synthesis, device architecture, characterization, and reliability testing.

OPVde aims to improve reproducibility and accelerate innovation in organic photovoltaics within Germany and beyond, by lowering barriers to data sharing and aligning methodologies across laboratories.
