Nyirokútágak

Nyirokútágak, also known as lymphatic vessels, are a crucial part of the lymphatic system. This intricate network of tubes and nodes works in conjunction with the circulatory system to maintain fluid balance and support the immune system. Lymphatic vessels are found throughout the body, collecting excess fluid and waste products from tissues. This fluid, once inside the lymphatic vessels, is called lymph.

The lymphatic vessels begin as tiny, blind-ended capillaries in the tissues. These capillaries merge to form larger vessels, which eventually drain into larger lymphatic ducts. Along the path of these vessels are lymph nodes, small bean-shaped organs that filter the lymph. Lymph nodes house immune cells, such as lymphocytes, that identify and destroy pathogens and foreign substances.

The primary function of nyirokútágak is to transport lymph. This fluid contains white blood cells, proteins, fats absorbed from the digestive system, and waste materials. The movement of lymph is facilitated by the contraction of surrounding muscles and the presence of one-way valves within the vessels, preventing backflow. The lymphatic system plays a vital role in immunity, absorbing fats from the intestines, and returning excess interstitial fluid to the bloodstream, thereby preventing edema. Disruptions to lymphatic vessels can lead to lymphedema, a condition characterized by swelling.
