Nyirokvezetékelzáródás

Nyirokvezetékelzáródás, also known as lymphatic duct obstruction, is a medical condition where the flow of lymph fluid is blocked in one or more of the lymphatic vessels. The lymphatic system is a network of vessels and nodes that helps remove waste products and excess fluid from tissues, and plays a role in immune function. When a lymphatic duct becomes blocked, lymph fluid can accumulate in the surrounding tissues, leading to swelling.

The causes of nyirokvezetékelzáródás can be varied. It can be primary, meaning it is present from birth due to developmental abnormalities of the lymphatic system. More commonly, it is secondary, resulting from damage or obstruction to the lymphatic vessels caused by other conditions. These can include infections, inflammation, surgery, radiation therapy, trauma, or the presence of tumors that compress or invade the lymphatic ducts. Certain parasitic infections, like filariasis, are also a significant cause in some regions of the world.

The primary symptom of nyirokvezetékelzáródás is lymphedema, which is swelling in the affected limb or body part. This swelling can range from mild to severe and may be accompanied by a feeling of heaviness, tightness, or discomfort. Over time, chronic lymphedema can lead to hardening of the skin and subcutaneous tissues, and an increased risk of infections in the affected area. Diagnosis typically involves a physical examination, medical history, and sometimes imaging studies such as lymphoscintigraphy or ultrasound to assess lymphatic flow. Treatment aims to manage the swelling and prevent complications, often involving compression therapy, physical therapy, and skin care.
