Norðri
Norðri is a dwarf in Norse mythology. He is one of the four dwarves who hold up the sky. According to the Prose Edda, Norðri is one of the dwarves found at the four corners of the world, along with Suðri, Austri, and Vestri. These four dwarves are tasked with holding up the sky above the earth. The sky was formed from the skull of the giant Ymir, and these dwarves are responsible for keeping it from falling. Norðri is associated with the direction of the north. The names of the dwarves are thought to represent the four cardinal directions, and their role in supporting the sky symbolizes the stability of the cosmos. Their existence highlights the importance of order and structure within the mythological worldview of the ancient Norse people.
