Nonanols

Nonanols are a group of nine-carbon alcohols. The most common isomer is 1-nonanol, also known as nonyl alcohol or pelargic alcohol. It is a linear primary alcohol with the chemical formula CH3(CH2)8OH. Nonanols exist as isomers, meaning they have the same chemical formula but different structural arrangements. Nonanols find various applications. 1-nonanol is used as a precursor in the synthesis of plasticizers, surfactants, and fragrance compounds. It is also employed as a solvent and in the production of certain lubricants. Due to their surface-active properties, some nonanol derivatives are used in detergents and emulsifiers.
