Nizhalgal is a 1988 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Bharathiraja, considered a milestone in Tamil cinema. The film is a remake of the 1939 American film The Great Man Vote. The story revolves around a poor farmer, Kallu, who accidentally marries a woman named Muthammal. When the villagers decide to choose a leader, Kallu is elected by accident.
