Other important four-vectors include the four-momentum $(E/c, p_x, p_y, p_z)$, where $E$ is energy and $p_x, p_y, p_z$ are the spatial components of momentum, and the four-velocity.

The use of four-vectors simplifies many relativistic equations and makes the underlying symmetries of spacetime more apparent. The squared magnitude of a four-vector, calculated using a specific metric (usually the Minkowski metric), is a Lorentz invariant. This means that its value is the same for all inertial observers, regardless of their relative motion. For example, the invariant interval in spacetime, derived from the squared magnitude of the spacetime four-vector, is a fundamental concept in relativity.
