Neliömetrin

Neliömetri, often abbreviated as m², is the base unit of area in the International System of Units (SI). It is defined as the area of a square with sides that are one meter in length. Therefore, one square meter is equal to one meter multiplied by one meter.

The concept of a square meter is fundamental in various fields, including construction, real estate, and general measurements. When describing the size of a room, a property, or land, the area is typically expressed in square meters. For example, a house might be advertised as having 150 square meters of living space. Similarly, the surface area of objects is also measured in square meters.

To convert other units of area to square meters, one must consider the relationship between the units. For instance, a square kilometer is equal to one million square meters (1 km² = 1,000,000 m²), as a kilometer is 1000 meters, and (1000 m) * (1000 m) = 1,000,000 m². Conversely, a square centimeter is one ten-thousandth of a square meter (1 cm² = 0.0001 m²), since a centimeter is 0.01 meters, and (0.01 m) * (0.01 m) = 0.0001 m².
