Nedkonvertert
Nedkonvertert is a Norwegian term meaning “down-converted” and is used in technical contexts to describe something that has been processed to operate at a lower frequency or lower resolution. In electronics and communications, nedkonvertering refers to the conversion of a high-frequency signal to a lower frequency, typically through mixing with a local oscillator in a heterodyne receiver. The resulting signal is usually an intermediate frequency or baseband signal that can be amplified, filtered, and digitized more easily. A common relation is f_IF ≈ |f_RF − f_LO|, and proper filtering is required to select the desired channel and suppress unwanted images. Nedkonvertering is central to many radio architectures, including superheterodyne receivers and modern digital receivers that still rely on down-conversion stages before sampling.
In digital media, nedkonvertert can describe the downconversion of signals to lower resolutions or sampling rates,
The term is used in Norwegian-language engineering literature and translations of the English “downconverted.” It is
