Ndiores

Ndiores, also known as Ntiores or Ndore, are a community primarily residing in the Nyeri County of Kenya. Their traditional homeland is the Aberdare Mountains region, where they have historically lived as pastoralists and agriculturalists. The Ndiores speak a dialect of the Kikuyu language, reflecting their close cultural and linguistic ties to the larger Kikuyu community.

The social structure of the Ndiores traditionally emphasized kinship and strong community bonds. They organized themselves into age sets, which played a significant role in social and political life, ensuring collective responsibility and mutual support. Their economy was based on cattle herding, supplemented by subsistence farming, growing crops such as maize, beans, and vegetables.

Historically, the Ndiores, like other communities in the region, faced challenges from land alienation and colonial policies. During the Mau Mau Uprising, they were actively involved in the struggle for independence. Post-independence, many Ndiores have integrated further into the broader Kenyan society, participating in national politics, economic development, and cultural exchanges.
