Nasogástrica
Nasogástrica refers to a tube that is inserted through the nose and down into the stomach. This medical device, often called an NG tube, serves several purposes in patient care. It can be used to administer nutrition to individuals who are unable to eat or drink normally due to illness, surgery, or other medical conditions. This process is known as enteral feeding. Additionally, an NG tube can be utilized to drain stomach contents, which can be helpful in cases of bowel obstruction, vomiting, or after certain surgical procedures. It may also be employed to remove air or fluid before or after medical operations.
The insertion of a nasogástrica tube is a medical procedure typically performed by a healthcare professional.
