Narok

Narok is a town in southwestern Kenya and the administrative capital of Narok County. It lies in the Rift Valley region, near the Mau Escarpment, about 150 kilometers west of Nairobi. The town functions as the county's administrative center and as a commercial hub for the surrounding communities.

The area is predominantly Maasai territory. The town's population centers on Maasai communities, with livelihoods based on pastoralism, livestock trading, and subsistence agriculture. Beadwork and crafts are notable cultural activities.

Narok serves as a gateway to the Maasai Mara National Reserve and other wildlife conservancies in the region. Tourism, transport services, wholesale and retail trade, and hospitality contribute significantly to the local economy.

Infrastructure includes road connections to Nairobi and western regions, basic healthcare facilities, and a range of educational institutions. The town hosts markets, banks, and service providers that support residents and travelers.
