Naprzemienny

Naprzemienny is an adjective in Polish that denotes something occurring in turn or alternating between two or more states, conditions, or options. It describes patterns, cycles, or arrangements in which elements or actions switch back and forth rather than proceeding in a fixed, unidirectional sequence.

In science and technology the term appears in phrases such as prąd naprzemienny, meaning alternating current. In electrical engineering this describes currents and voltages that periodically reverse direction. The opposite concept is prąd stały, or direct current, which maintains a constant direction.

In mathematics naprzemienny is used for objects with alternating properties, such as a sequence whose terms alternate in sign (for example, 1, -1, 1, -1) or a series with alternating signs. An alternating series has specific convergence properties, described by criteria such as the Leibniz criterion, which apply to certain naprzemienny sequences and sums.

In everyday language, naprzemienny can describe schedules or routines that switch between states, for example a naprzemienny grafik pracy, where workers rotate shifts or tasks.
