NamPower

NamPower is the national power utility of Namibia. It is a parastatal organization responsible for the generation, transmission, and wholesale of electricity throughout the country. NamPower was established in 1997 following the restructuring of the electricity sector in Namibia. Its primary mandate is to ensure a secure and reliable supply of electricity to meet the nation's growing demand.

The company operates a diverse portfolio of power generation facilities, including thermal power stations, hydro-electric plants, and increasingly, renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power. NamPower plays a significant role in Namibia's economic development by providing the necessary energy infrastructure for industries, businesses, and households. In addition to its domestic responsibilities, NamPower also participates in regional power trading, importing electricity from neighboring countries when necessary to supplement its own generation capacity.
