Naftajääkide

Naftajääkide refers to the residual material left after the refining of crude oil, specifically the heavy fractions that do not readily vaporize or distill. This material is also known as petroleum residue or bitumen. It is the heaviest component of crude oil, characterized by its high viscosity, high boiling point, and complex chemical composition. Naftajääkide is rich in asphaltenes and other large hydrocarbon molecules.

The primary use of naftajääkide is in the production of asphalt for road construction and roofing materials. Due to its adhesive properties and durability, it forms the binder in asphalt concrete. Beyond paving, naftajääkide can also be used as a fuel source, particularly in industrial furnaces and power plants where its high energy content is advantageous, though its combustion requires specialized equipment due to its viscosity and sulfur content. It can also serve as a feedstock for further processing in refineries to extract valuable components or convert it into lighter products through processes like coking. The handling and transportation of naftajääkide require heating to maintain fluidity.
