Na2SiF6
Na2SiF6, or sodium hexafluorosilicate, is an inorganic salt composed of sodium cations (Na+) and the hexafluorosilicate anion (SiF6^2−). The anion features a central silicon atom coordinated octahedrally by six fluorine atoms.
Na2SiF6 can be prepared by neutralizing hexafluorosilicic acid (H2SiF6) with a sodium-containing base, for example H2SiF6
Na2SiF6 is a white crystalline solid. It dissolves readily in water and the resulting solution contains fluoride
The primary use of Na2SiF6 is as a source of fluoride ions in water fluoridation programs in
Na2SiF6 is hazardous if ingested or inhaled and can react with acids to release hazardous hydrogen fluoride
