NEnap

NEnap is a bit-stream-based, open-source, and commoditized edge database software. Developed by Cartesian Pony, NEnap is designed to provide a flexible and highly performant database solution for applications running at the Edge. The NEnap database architecture is based on an in-memory, time-series database that supports up to the order of 10^9 database records, all stored within a block of RAM.

NEnap's aim is to leverage in-memory persistence and high-performance computing to optimize data ingestion, query processing, and storage. The database is designed to handle large volumes of data from various Edge sources, utilized for mobile networks, IoT devices, and industrial control systems.

NEnap's architecture is based on an advanced caching technique, addressing key performance indicators such as latency and throughput. As an added benefit, it exceptionally increases fault-tolerance. NEnap's scalability facilitates the dynamic expansion of the Edge database, handling increased demand seamlessly through its scalable Edge architecture.

Other characteristics of NEnap include its industry-standard SQL interface and constant write-through of data to remote storage. These are deployed using either an in-React or an in-extended context – offering users the highest option in read latency via interrupting the data primitives.

The application of NEnap in Edge computing is attributed to its improved efficiency, scalability, and decreased latency in transactional and analytical operations. This offers Edge environments the one-vendor solution capability, and dictates compatibility in migration and usage among Edge platforms.
