Estonia joined the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) on March 29, 2004, as part of the alliance's largest expansion to date. This accession marked a significant milestone in Estonia's post-Soviet foreign policy, aligning the country with Western security structures. Estonia's membership in NATO is a cornerstone of its national security strategy, providing collective defense guarantees under Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty.
Since joining, Estonia has actively participated in NATO operations and missions, contributing troops and expertise to
