NADriippuvaisia

NADriippuvaisia is a Finnish alternative rock band that originated in Helsinki in 2012. The group's name, derived from the Finnish phrase for “NAD-dependent,” plays on the idea of musical innovation being “dependent” upon nicotine‑adenine dinucleotide (NAD) as a metaphor for the regenerative energy they seek in their compositions. The founding lineup consisted of vocalist and guitarist Mikko Lehtinen, bassist Kati Niemi, drummer Jari Peltola, and keyboardist Timo Koskinen.

The band first gained attention with their debut single “Aikaisempi” in 2013, which featured a blend of classic rock guitar hooks and electronica samples. Their self‑titled EP was released the following year to positive reviews in several Finnish music periodicals, noted for its lyrical exploration of personal transformation and the science‑fiction motif.

In 2015 NADriippuvaisia released their debut full‑length album, *Funktio*, which included the hit track “Zyksy.” Critics praised the album’s complex arrangements and the juxtaposition of upbeat tempos with introspective lyrics. 2017 saw the follow‑up album *Molekyylit*, an exploration of biochemical processes through metaphorical narrative.

The band has performed at major Finnish festivals such as Tampere Jazz Happening and Luminato, and has collaborated with other domestic acts including Celestial Voices. In recent years, NADriippuvaisia has taken a hiatus from touring, concentrating on songwriting and studio experimentation. The group remains active in recording, with plans for a new studio album slated for release in 2025.
