Mäntäperiaatteella

Mäntäperiaatteella refers to a principle of operation based on a reciprocating piston. This mechanism is fundamental to many types of engines and pumps. In essence, a piston moves back and forth within a cylinder, driven by pressure changes or by mechanical force. This linear motion is then often converted into rotational motion or used to displace fluids.

The most common application of the mäntäperiaatteella is found in internal combustion engines, such as those in cars and motorcycles. In these engines, fuel is ignited within the cylinder, creating expanding gases that push the piston. This movement, through a connecting rod and crankshaft, turns the engine's output shaft.
