Munuaiskeräskudos

Munuaiskeräskudos, also known as renal corpuscular tissue or glomerular tissue, refers to the specific structures within the kidney responsible for filtering blood. These are the glomeruli and Bowman's capsules, collectively forming the renal corpuscles. The glomerulus is a network of tiny capillaries, while Bowman's capsule is a cup-shaped structure that surrounds the glomerulus.

The primary function of munuaiskeräskudos is to initiate the process of urine formation. Blood enters the glomerulus under pressure, and this pressure forces water and small solutes, such as salts, glucose, and urea, out of the capillaries and into Bowman's capsule. This filtered fluid is known as glomerular filtrate. Larger molecules like proteins and blood cells are retained within the capillaries and do not pass into the filtrate.

The efficiency of filtration is a crucial aspect of kidney function, as it removes waste products from the blood while conserving essential substances. The structure of the glomerular capillaries, with their fenestrated endothelium, and the filtration barrier formed by the podocytes of Bowman's capsule, are specifically adapted for this selective filtering process. Damage to munuaiskeräskudos can impair kidney function and lead to various renal diseases.
