Multiplexoida

Multiplexoida is a term used in theoretical discussions to refer to a class of layered, interconnected structures. The word blends multiplex, meaning many, with the suffix -oid, suggesting a form or likeness, to signal a family of related multi-layer constructs.

In graph-theoretic usage, a multiplexoida consists of a finite vertex set V, a finite set L of layers, and, for each layer l in L, an edge set E_l ⊆ V×V. A common formalization assumes a base topology G=(V,E_base) from which each layer derives its edges by a layer-specific operation f_l, so E_l = f_l(E_base). This expresses that all layers share the same node set and core connectivity while permitting layer-specific variations.

In algebraic or category-theoretic formulations, multiplexoida may denote a family of morphisms between layers that satisfy certain commutativity or compatibility conditions. As a modeling device, multiplexoida is used to study inter-layer dependencies, information flow, and synchronized dynamics across contexts.

History and usage: The term has appeared in a small number of theoretical papers and preprints in the 2020s as a generic label for generalized multiplex structures. There is no single canonical definition, and the term is not yet widely standardized.
