Multicel
Multicel is a term that may be encountered in biology, anatomy, or as a proper noun in branding. In formal use, the relevant concept is multicellular, referring to organisms composed of many cells that adhere, communicate, and differentiate to form tissues and organs. Multicellularity has evolved independently in various lineages, leading to diverse body plans from simple colonies to complex animals and plants. Key features include cell adhesion molecules, intercellular signaling, division of labor among cell types, and regulation of gene expression that guides development and homeostasis. The transition to multicellularity enables increased size, specialization, and improved environmental responses, but it also imposes coordination and developmental challenges, such as managing cell growth and preventing cancer.
The term "multicel" is not a standard scientific term. When used in literature or education, it is
