Rhymes and songs can also serve as effective muistisääntöjen, as the rhythm and melody can help anchor information in memory. Many educational jingles for children, such as those teaching the alphabet or basic arithmetic, fall into this category. Visual imagery, also known as the method of loci or memory palace, involves associating information with specific locations in a familiar mental space, like a house or a route. By mentally "walking" through this space, one can retrieve the associated information.

The effectiveness of muistisääntöjen lies in their ability to transform abstract or complex information into more memorable forms. They work by engaging different parts of the brain and creating stronger neural connections, thereby improving retention and retrieval. These devices are widely used in education, studying, and everyday life for remembering lists, facts, sequences, and other types of information.
