Mudhoney

Mudhoney is an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1988. Emerging from the city's underground scene, they became one of the first and most influential groups associated with the early grunge movement and the Sub Pop label. The band is known for its raw, fuzz-drenched guitar sound, punk-influenced energy, and Mark Arm's raspy vocal style.

The original lineup featured Mark Arm (vocals), Steve Turner (guitar), Matt Lukin (bass), and Dan Peters (drums). Over the years Mudhoney has employed a rotating rhythm section, with Arm and Turner as constants; Peters contributed on early material, including the 1988 single "Touch Me I'm Sick," and Lukin was later replaced by other bassists, including Guy Maddison.

Mudhoney's discography includes the influential EP Superfuzz Bigmuff (1988), the self-titled debut album Mudhoney (1989), and subsequent full-lengths such as Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge (1991) and Piece of Cake (1992). The band continued to release albums and tour throughout the 1990s and beyond, maintaining a reputation for stripped-down, high-energy rock.

Impact and legacy: Mudhoney is widely regarded as a foundational act in Seattle's grunge scene and a major influence on later alternative rock. Their early recordings helped define Sub Pop's sound and the broader 1990s indie rock movement. Mudhoney remains active, continuing to release new material and perform live.
