Morfémaelemzés, also known as morpheme analysis or morphological analysis, is a linguistic process that breaks down words into their smallest meaningful units, called morphemes. These morphemes are the fundamental building blocks of language. A morpheme can be a whole word, like "cat," or a part of a word that carries meaning, such as the prefix "un-" in "unhappy" or the suffix "-ing" in "running."

By identifying the root morpheme and any affixes (prefixes, suffixes, infixes), linguists can decipher the word's grammatical function and semantic content. For instance, in the word "unfriendable," morfémaelemzés would reveal the root "friend," the prefix "un-" (meaning not), and the suffix "-able" (meaning capable of being). This analysis clarifies that the word refers to something incapable of being a friend.
