Moduulijakoa

Moduulijakoa, also known as modular division or modular arithmetic, is a system of arithmetic for integers, where numbers "wrap around" after reaching a certain value, the modulus. It is widely used in various fields such as computer science, cryptography, and number theory. The concept is based on the idea that two numbers are considered equivalent if they differ by a multiple of the modulus.

In moduulijakoa, the result of a division operation is not a quotient but a remainder. For example, in the division of 10 by 3 with a modulus of 5, the result is 2, because 10 divided by 3 gives a quotient of 3 and a remainder of 1, and 1 is equivalent to 6 modulo 5. This is denoted as 10 ≡ 2 (mod 5).

Moduulijakoa has several properties that make it useful in various applications. For instance, it is associative and commutative, meaning that the order in which operations are performed does not affect the result. It also has a unique identity element, 0, and every element has an inverse, which is the number that, when added to the original number, results in a multiple of the modulus.
