Modenas

Modenas, short for Motosikal dan Enjin Nasional Sdn Bhd, is a Malaysian motorcycle manufacturer and distributor. It was established in 1996 as a government-private sector initiative to foster domestic motorcycle production and reduce reliance on imports.

It began with a licensing partnership with Bajaj Auto of India, enabling the design, manufacture and assembly of affordable, small-displacement motorcycles for the Malaysian market. The arrangement facilitated technology transfer and local production capabilities, contributing to the growth of Malaysia's two-wheeler industry.

Its product range centers on entry-level motorcycles and scooters, typically in the 100–150 cc class, emphasizing simple maintenance and cost effectiveness. Modenas motorcycles are distributed through an authorized network of dealers in Malaysia and have reached some markets in the Southeast Asia region through regional distributors.

Modenas functions as a national brand within Malaysia's automotive sector, supporting local manufacturing, service networks, and supplier development. The company remains active in the 2020s, continuing production and updating its lineup to meet market demands.
