Mitmesubjektsetes
Mitmesubjektsetes is a grammatical structure found in some languages, including Estonian, where a single verb can have multiple subjects. This phenomenon is also known as "ergative-absolutive" or "tripartite" agreement. In Estonian, for example, a verb can agree with two or three subjects simultaneously: the agent (doer of the action), the patient (receiver of the action), and sometimes a third subject, which can be a beneficiary or a goal. This structure allows for a more complex and nuanced expression of relationships between participants in a sentence. For instance, in the sentence "Mina annan sulle raamatu" (I give you the book), the verb "annan" (give) agrees with both "mina" (I) and "sulle" (you), indicating that the action is performed by the speaker and directed towards the listener. This structure is a characteristic feature of ergative-absolutive languages and contributes to their rich and expressive syntax.
