Mis18BP1, also known as MIS18 binding protein 1, is a protein encoded by the gene of the same name. It is a component of the Mis18 complex, which plays a critical role in centromere identity and function. The Mis18 complex is essential for the establishment and maintenance of the centromere-specific histone H3 variant, CENP-A. Without proper CENP-A localization, chromosomes cannot be correctly segregated during cell division, leading to aneuploidy.
