Mikrobølgeforsendelse, also known as microwave transmission, is a method of transmitting information or energy wirelessly using microwave radio frequencies. This technology is widely used for telecommunications, including long-distance telephone calls and television broadcasting. It involves the use of directional antennas to send and receive microwave signals between two points, often over significant distances. These signals travel in a straight line, known as a line-of-sight path, meaning that obstacles such as buildings or the curvature of the Earth can obstruct the transmission. To overcome these limitations, relay stations are frequently employed, particularly for transcontinental or intercontinental links. Each relay station receives the signal, amplifies it, and then retransmits it to the next station in the chain. The bandwidth available at microwave frequencies allows for the transmission of large amounts of data, making it suitable for high-capacity communication systems.
