Mikkeller

Mikkeller is a Danish craft brewery based in Copenhagen, founded in the mid-2000s by Mikkel Borg Bjergsø. It has become one of the best-known and most influential names in the global craft beer movement, noted for its extensive program of collaboration beers with breweries around the world and for pushing experimental boundaries in beer styles.

It began as a homebrewing project in Copenhagen. Early on, Mikkeller produced beers through contract brewing at partner facilities, sometimes referred to as gypsy brewing. The brand emphasizes quality and innovation rather than large-scale production. It expanded to operate its own bars and restaurants and maintains a network of international partners to brew and distribute.

Mikkeller's portfolio includes the Beer Geek and Spontan series, which cover imperial stout and sour/wild ales, as well as numerous one-off IPAs, barleywines, and experimental beers. The company is known for minimalist label art and for releasing many limited-edition beers.

Mikkeller has received numerous awards and is credited with popularizing the craft beer collaboration model and the gypsy-brewing approach. It operates several bars globally, including in Copenhagen, and its beers are distributed widely in bottles and cans.
