Miðhafshryggnum

Miðhafshryggnum, also known as the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, is a mid-ocean ridge located in the Atlantic Ocean. It is a vast underwater mountain range that stretches for approximately 16,000 kilometers from the Arctic Ocean to the Antarctic Ocean. The ridge is a divergent tectonic plate boundary where the North American and Eurasian plates are pulling apart, and the South American and African plates are also separating.

This geological feature is characterized by a rift valley that runs along its crest, where magma from the Earth's mantle rises to the surface, cools, and solidifies to form new oceanic crust.
