Mexíkóflóa is the Icelandic name for the Gulf of Mexico. It is a large oceanic basin located in the southeastern United States, bordering the Yucatán Peninsula of Mexico to the south and west, and Cuba to the southeast. The Gulf of Mexico is connected to the Atlantic Ocean by the Straits of Florida and to the Caribbean Sea by the Yucatán Channel.
