MettRNAi
MettRNAi is a non-coding RNA molecule found in eukaryotic cells. It is a type of transfer RNA (tRNA) that is specifically charged with the amino acid methionine. In eukaryotes, MettRNAi plays a crucial role in initiating protein synthesis. Unlike other tRNAs that bind to amino acids during the elongation phase of translation, MettRNAi is responsible for delivering the initiating methionine to the ribosome to start the polypeptide chain. This initiation step is a highly regulated process, and MettRNAi is a key component of the translation initiation complex.
The structure of MettRNAi is similar to other tRNAs, featuring a characteristic cloverleaf secondary structure and
